چکیده

Most cosmological parameter estimations are based on the same set of observations and are therefore not independent. Here, we test the consistency of parameter estimations using a combination of large-scale structure and supernovae data, without cosmic microwave background (CMB) data. We combine observations from the IRAS 1.2 Jy and Las Campanas redshift surveys, galaxy peculiar velocities and measurements of type Ia supernovae to obtain h = 0.57 −0.14 , Ωm = 0.28 ± 0.05 and σ8 = 0.87 +0.04 −0.05 in agreement with the constraints from observations of the CMB anisotropies by the WMAP satellite. We also compare results from different subsets of data in order to investigate the effect of priors and residual errors in the data. We find that some parameters are consistently well constrained whereas others are consistently ill-determined, or even yield poorly consistent results, thereby illustrating the importance of priors and data contributions.

Cosmology with Photometric Surveys of Type Ia Supernovae

We discuss the extent to which photometric measurements alone can be used to identify Type Ia supernovae (SNIa) and to determine redshift and other parameters of interest for cosmological studies. We fit the light curve data of the type expected from a survey such as the one planned with Large Synoptic Survey Telescope (LSST) and also to remove the contamination from the corecollapse supernovae...

Large-scale Inversion of Magnetic Data Using Golub-Kahan Bidiagonalization with Truncated Generalized Cross Validation for Regularization Parameter Estimation

In this paper a fast method for large-scale sparse inversion of magnetic data is considered. The L1-norm stabilizer is used to generate models with sharp and distinct interfaces. To deal with the non-linearity introduced by the L1-norm, a model-space iteratively reweighted least squares algorithm is used. The original model matrix is factorized using the Golub-Kahan bidiagonalization that proje...

The Detection of the Gravitational Lens- Ing of Supernovae

The weak gravitational lensing of high redshift type Ia supernovae has the potential of probing the structure of matter on galaxy halo scales. This is complementary to the weak lensing of galaxies which probes structure of larger scales. There are already several organized searches for these supernovae being carried out for the purposes of cosmological parameter estimation. A method is proposed...

A Steady Flow Cosmological Model from a Minimal Large Numbers Hypothesis

Assuming a minimal version of the Large Number Hypothesis, we explore the possibility that the cosmological constant has decayed with time and define a cosmological parameter, depending of the vacuum energy and the universe scale, which should be presently ca. 10 122 times smaller than at the Planck epoch. From it, a short version of the Friedmann equation for a flat and spatially infinite univ...

Classical and Bayesian Inference in Two Parameter Exponential Distribution with Randomly Censored Data

Abstract. This paper deals with the classical and Bayesian estimation for two parameter exponential distribution having scale and location parameters with randomly censored data. The censoring time is also assumed to follow a two parameter exponential distribution with different scale but same location parameter. The main stress is on the location parameter in this paper. This parameter has not...
